SEPTEMBER AGM
A summary of the AGM meeting is in Coastal Views. Since the AGM, we have some extra feedback from our guest speaker from CITY OF ONKAPARINGA on Coastal Adaptation, Ynys Onsman:
‘Here’s some information responding to a few questions I received, which I’m hoping you can pass on to members’.
COASTSNAP CAMERAS
The City of Marion was the first council in South Australia to install the CoastSnap posts; they have five posts along their coast. Each year, they compile the photos, and it contributes to their annual monitoring. The City of Charles Sturt also now has four posts in their area. There are two CoastSnap posts in Victor Harbour and a couple more on Kangaroo Island. We understand that the Port Adelaide council will also be seeking to have some installed’.
LOWER ESPLANADE UPKEEP
‘We have several ongoing projects along the Esplanade aimed at replacing existing post and rail fencing with new fencing. In addition, we are assessing multiple locations for the potential installation of guardrails to enhance road safety, and we are planning to undertake the works in the 2026/27 financial year, subject to Council approval. Fencing works opposite Quondong Avenue, by the toilet block, are scheduled for installation in December 2025. We are aware of cracking along the lower Esplanade and are actively monitoring and assessing the area to identify the underlying cause. Remedial works will be considered in the future to help reduce further deterioration.’
Thanks Ynys!

ALDINGA MEALS ON WHEELS (MOW)
MOW need volunteers to deliver meals on weekdays to Aldinga, Aldinga Beach, and Sellicks Beach. Fortnightly roster. The new office is in the Aldinga Uniting Church rear hall, at 2 Old Coach Road, Aldinga. Volunteers meet there at 10:45 am to collect the meals to deliver. The hot meals are prepared and cooked at the Christies Beach Meals On Wheels kitchen.
Each delivery team needs a driver and a passenger to help navigate and check the delivery list. The driver will use their own car. We usually return to the Aldinga office by 12:30 pm, depending on the number of deliveries. VOLUNTEER APPLICATION Forms are available on the internet at https://mealsonwheelssa.org.au>. Also needed is the Application and Informed Consent Form for a national criminal history check. Meals on Wheels (S.A.) Inc. will pay for this check. For further information, please telephone Joan Attrill 08 85566071.
Warm regards
