OTHER NEWS

SELLICKS BEACH The Sellicks Beach Growth Area Joint Amendment, led by the Department for Housing and Urban Development (DHUD) supersedes the previous proposed Code Amendment and proposes to rezone 130 hectares currently zoned ‘Rural' and ‘Deferred Urban’ for the purposes of housing.

Consultation is open until 16 October 2025. See <https://yoursay.sa.gov.au/sellicks-beach-growth>. The size of the rezoned area and the number of proposed dwellings is greater than previously anticipated by the community.

To inform the process, monitoring of dust levels arising from the Adbri Quarry, commenced in 2023, will continue over the next several months and into 2026. The most recent report of interim findings was released on 4 August 2025. Search PlanSA for ‘Sellicks-beach-growth-area-air-quality-assessment-interim-summary-findings-and-recommendations-4014.pdf’.

For background information on past community consultation, see the City of Onkaparinga website at <https://yoursay.onkaparinga.sa.gov.au/sellicks-beach-structure-plan> .

COMMUNITY CONSULTATION information sessions will be held on

Thursday 18th September 10am -11am (online), and/or

Thursday 18th September 5pm-7pm at Sellicks Beach Hall.

You can book at the above link.

You can also check out Sellicks Woodlands and Wetlands Action Network (SWWAN) for an alternative view for Sellicks, ie a green corridor for native habitat and recreation, stretching from Myponga to Port Noarlunga, and providing a natural buffer to the quarry at Sellicks. See <https://sellickswoodlands.au/> and on facebook.

There’s no doubt the code amendment will mean huge changes ahead for our area, so please take the time to be informed and have your say before 16 October 2025.
